| 摘要 | This lecture will be divided in two parts: The first part presents a research project mapping the largest public-infrastructure network ever constructed in the United States, encompassing 2.6 million projects and more than 140,000 participating agencies, contractors, and subcontractors. The study demonstrates how localized disruptions propagate through the broader network due to opportunistic resource reallocations, creating economy-wide delays and shifting costs across otherwise unrelated projects.
The second part introduces the Data Mangrove Institute (datamangrove.com), an initiative founded in Costa Rica and the Amazon Rainforest with 12 NGOs and university partners. The institute leverages AI and data analytics to support biodiversity protection, including infrastructure design for endangered species crossings, computer vision for anti-poaching detection, machine-learning tools for smallholder farmers, and ocean-plastics removal. Opportunities for research and experiential learning partnerships will also be discussed (mcgill.ca/costa-rica-study-trip).
Finally, the talk highlights the Sustainability Academic Network (SUSAN, susanhub.com), a platform connecting 80,000 sustainability researchers, 4,000 institutes, and large-scale academic corpora and datasets across 60 sustainability themes. |
