Call for Papers | International Economics Conference
China reopened from COVID to a world economy that is different from the past. In a world with escalating conflicts, increasing tensions, and the imposition of sanctions, the risks of geopolitical fragmentations are growing. This evolving scenario raises a critical question: Will the era of international integration and shared prosperity, which significantly contributed to China's rise from poverty, continue to thrive?
With these questions and concerns, we at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and the HKU Business School Shenzhen Research Institutes (SZRI) are organizing a research conference on international trade/macroeconomics. This conference will focus on examining the economic forces behind the current trends in globalization.
We are particularly interested in exploring the potential consequences of evolving policies, emerging technologies, shifts in the flows of goods and capital, climate change, and other transformations in economic fundamentals on future international trade and investment. We sincerely invite economists from around the world to submit your best papers on these topics. The two-day conference will take place in Shenzhen, China, a neighboring city to Hong Kong, on April 13-14, 2024. Shenzhen is a vibrant city that has grown from a fishing village into an economic powerhouse, hosting advanced Chinese companies such as Tencent and DJI, thanks to China's Reform and Opening Up policies.
