The School of Economics and Management, CUHK-Shenzhen, Where Dreams Set Sail

Apr 15,2020 School News

CUHK-Shenzhen SME and CUHK Business School jointly accept accreditation audit of The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) every five years. AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than 5 percent of the world's business schools.

SME attaches great importance to teaching and learning, and all faculty hold PhD degrees and professional qualifications from internationally renowned universities. Most of them have extensive experience in their vocational fields.  Our curriculum conforms with international standards and is taught in English to ensure the world-class teaching quality.

At present, the majors offered to undergraduate students include Economics, Finance, Professional Accounting, Marketing and Communications, Financial Engineering and Global Business Studies.

Economics

As an interdisciplinary major, the Economics major attaches equal importance to teaching and research while integrating the Orient and the Occident pedagogies. The major offers a full range of cutting-edge courses; young economists-to-be could start with Economics 101, dive deeper into intermediary and advanced set of lectures, with refreshing syllabus in Machine Learning and Big Data analytics to venture into newly discovered territories. For determined researchers-to-be, the major offers courses in Advanced Research and Thesis Writing. Students who opt for this major will acquire tightly structured knowledge, innovative and creative mindsets, and humanities accomplishments.

Economics is composed of two streams: Applied Economics and Economic Science.

Global Business Studies

The Global Business Studies major is designed to inspire and prepare future contributors for today’s multicultural and integrated world.

The major is composed of two streams: Global Business Management, Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management.

The Global Business Management stream imparts qualitative and quantitative research methods, and analytical and communication skills. Students may mix-match their courses, and create their own curriculum. Students are encouraged to participate in SME’s international exchange programes.

Jointly operated by CUHK-Shenzhen, University of British Columbia and Copenhagen Business School, students majoring in Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management will complete three terms of study in each campus respectively. The major nurtures rigorous quantitative researchers with expertise in the resource circulation pattern of entity resources, human resources, information resources, and financial resources—four key elements that shape today’s international business model.

Marketing and Communications

Docking with internationally renowned business schools, the Marketing and Communications major offers an all-embracing curriculum that covers modern marketing principles, consumer behavior studies, and market research techniques, and consolidates with comprehensive training in the applications of information technology and big data.

An international teaching team, reasonably aged with young dashing scholars, award-winning professors and seasoned strategists of the marketing domain, each holds a PhD degree from top-notch universities around the world.

Nationwide, the Finance major tops all majors with its integration of theory and practice, academia and industry. The major boasts faculties that are leading in the country and spearheading in course design.
