Call for Applications: the 2025 Online PhD Summer Camp for Outstanding University Students

The School of Management and Economics (SME) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, is organizing an online PhD Summer Camp on July 19-20, 2025, for prospective PhD students for Fall 2026.

Agenda (Tentative)

Outstanding participants will have the opportunity to obtain:

• Pre-admission offer to SME PhD programmes
• Invitation to visit the campus

Target Group

• 2026 graduates with a bachelor's or master's degree from "985 Project” universities, "211 Project” universities and “Double First-Class” universities. Applicants may come from different disciplinary backgrounds but should have a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and good computer skills.

• Applicants should have an average undergraduate score of 85 or above on the 100-point scale, or a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 or above on a 4-point scale, or be ranked in the top 25% of their major.

   

Online Application

Applicants should submit their applications through the online application system and upload the following supporting documents: 

1. Curriculum Vitae (Chinese or English)
2. Personal Statement (Chinese or English)
3. Certificate of Enrollment

4. Official transcripts (sealed by the department or the registrar’s office)

   ‐ Current undergraduate: the latest transcript

   ‐ Current postgraduate: the complete undergraduate transcript + the latest postgraduate transcript

5. Certificate of Ranking (sealed by the department or the registrar’s office)

6. Proof of English Language Proficiency. Applicants may submit a copy of one of the following score reports/certificates:

   ‐ CET4/CET6 score report;

   ‐ TOEFL/IELTS (Academic) score report

   ‐ Certificate of English as the medium of instruction issued by the department or the registrar’s office

7. At least two academic recommendation letters
8. GRE/GMAT score report (optional)
9. Academic writing sample (optional) 
10. Other supporting documents (optional)
     

* Please select the PhD programme batch marked with "(AY2026-27 Summer Camp)". Each applicant may apply for only one programme.

Application Timeline

Open Date: May 25, 2025

Close Date: July 5, 2025

The application is free of charge. Invitations for interviews will be sent to selected applicants by July 15, 2025. Applicants who are not selected for an interview in the Summer Camp are welcome to apply in the main round commencing on November 1, 2025.
