2023 SME Annual Report
Faculty
The pool of teachers at the School of Management and Economics (SME), The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) is expanding, with 25 new professors on board, increasing the total number of faculty members to 126. Among them, 19 specialize in operations management and information system, 22 in accounting, 14 in management, 27 in economics, 28 in finance, and 16 in marketing.

They graduated from the world’s top universities, all with doctoral degrees from prestigious overseas universities. Among them, 70% graduated from schools in North America, 10%, Europe, and 20%, Asia.
They come from all corners of the world, including 105 from China (Hong Kong 14, Taiwan 2), United States 5, Brazil 1, South Korea 8, Netherlands 2, Canada 2, Malaysia 1, Thailand 1, Italy 1.
Academic Achievement
In 2023, SME witnessed 58 newly accepted papers, of which 24 papers were accepted by FT50 journals and 19 by UTD24 journals.

SME received five grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 2023. Jia Jianmin was acknowledged by NSFC Key Program; Chen Qihui was acknowledged by NSFC General Program; three professors, namely Lin Wei, Lin Wenlian and Zhang lingyi received grants from NSFC’s Youth Science Fund.
SME won 1 grant from Guangdong Province in 2023. Lin Wei was acknowledged by NSFC General Program of Guangdong Province.

In addition, SME and SFI held 6 sessions of Distinguished Lecture Series themed on global economic hotspots and invited influential industrial leaders, experts from decision-making departments and other well-known scholars to share their in-depth opinions.
